Heavenly Treasure

The body

Colossians 3

New Living Translation (NLT)

Living the New Life

Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. And when Christ, who is your[a] life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory.

So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires. Don’t be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world. Because of these sins, the anger of God is coming.[b] You used to do these things when your life was still part of this world. But now is the time to get rid of anger, rage, malicious behavior, slander, and dirty language. Don’t lie to each other, for you have stripped off your old sinful nature and all its wicked deeds. 10 Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him. 11 In this new life, it doesn’t Matter if you are a Jew or a Gentile,[c] circumcised or uncircumcised, barbaric, uncivilized,[d] slave, or free. Christ is all that Matters, and he lives in all of us.

12 Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. 13 Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. 14 Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. 15 And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.

16 Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts. 17 And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.

Instructions for Christian Households

18 Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting for those who belong to the Lord.

19 Husbands, love your wives and never treat them harshly.

20 Children, always obey your parents, for this pleases the Lord. 21 Fathers, do not aggravate your children, or they will become discouraged.

22 Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything you do. Try to please them all the time, not just when they are watching you. Serve them sincerely because of your reverent fear of the Lord. 23 Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. 24 Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.[e] 25 But if you do what is wrong, you will be paid back for the wrong you have done. For God has no favorites.

Chapter 19

The next part of our of selves we will study is the body.

The body is our earthly home.

The Bible refers to the body as our temple.

The problem that we face with the body as a home

is that it is alive and has its own a agenda.

The Word makes it very clear that

God wants us to take total control

 of  the bodies agenda.

Untold Truths

It Is Your Choice To Walk In The Flesh

Walk In The Spirit

Making the body submit to be

a sacrifice for the work of the Lord

is our reasonable service to the Lord.

 Denying  ourselves and

allowing Jesus

to live his life through us

is the expectation of God.

(Rom 12:1 NKJV)

(12) I beseech you therefore,

brethren, by the mercies of God,

that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy,

 acceptable to God,

which is your reasonable service.

The body is our contact

with the physical world.

If we're going to be involved

with the things of this world it will

be through the desires the body.

The Bible refers to the desires of the body,

as the lust of the eye, the lust of the flesh,

pride of life and the force of greed.

(1 John 2:15 –17 NKJV)

(17) Do not love the world

or the things in the world.

If anyone loves the world,

the love of the Father is not in him.

(16) For all that is in the world;

the lust of the flesh,

the lust of the eyes,

and the pride of life;

is not of the Father

but is of the world.

(17) And the world is passing away,

and the lust of it;

but he who does the

will of God abides forever.

1 John 2:15-17 New Living Translation (NLT)

Do Not Love This World

15 Do not love this world

nor the things it offers you,

for when you love the world,

you do not have the love

of the Father in you.

16 For the world offers only

 a craving for physical pleasure,

a craving for everything we see, and

pride in our achievements and possessions.

These are not from the Father,

but are from this world.

17 And this world is fading away,

along with everything that people crave.

But anyone who does what

pleases God will live forever.

Acts 5:1-11 New Living Translation (NLT)

Ananias and Sapphira

But there was a certain man

named Ananias who, with his wife, Sapphira,

sold some property.

He brought part of the money to the apostles,

claiming it was the full amount.

With his wife’s consent, he kept the rest.

Then Peter said, “Ananias,

why have you let Satan fill your heart?

You lied to the Holy Spirit,

and you kept some of the money for yourself.

The property was yours to sell or not sell,

 as you wished.

And after selling it,

the money was also yours to give away.

How could you do a thing like this?

You weren’t lying to us but to God!”

As soon as Ananias heard these words,

he fell to the floor and died.

Everyone who heard about it was terrified.

Then some young men got up,

 wrapped him in a sheet,

and took him out and buried him.

About three hours later his wife came in,

 not knowing what had happened.

Peter asked her,

“Was this the price you and your husband

received for your land?”

“Yes,” she replied, “that was the price.”

And Peter said,

“How could the two of you even think

of conspiring to test the

Spirit of the Lord like this?

The young men who buried

your husband are just outside the door,

and they will carry you out, too.”

10 Instantly, she fell to the floor and died.

When the young men came in

and saw that she was dead,

they carried her out and

buried her beside her husband.

11 Great fear gripped the entire church

and everyone else who heard what had happened.

2 Timothy 2:23-26 New Living Translation (NLT)

23 Again I say, don’t get involved in foolish,

ignorant arguments that only start fights.

24 A servant of the Lord must not quarrel

but must be kind to everyone,

 be able to teach,

and be patient with difficult people.

25 Gently instruct those who oppose the truth.

Perhaps God will change those people’s hearts,

and they will learn the truth.

26 Then they will come to their senses and

 escape from the devil’s trap.

For they have been held captive by him

to do whatever he wants.

Matthew 4:8-9 New Living Translation (NLT)

Next the devil took him

to the peak of a very high mountain and

 showed him all the kingdoms

of the world and their glory.

“I will give it all to you,”

he said,

“if you will kneel down and worship me.”

2 Timothy 3: 1 New Living Translation (NLT)

The Dangers of the Last Days

3 You should know this, Timothy,

 that in the last days

there will be very difficult times.

Compare this to 2 Timothy 2:15-17

2 Timothy 3: 2-5 New Living Translation (NLT)

 For people will love only

themselves and their money.

They will be boastful and proud,

 scoffing at God,

disobedient to their parents,

and ungrateful.

They will consider nothing sacred.

They will be unloving and unforgiving;

 they will slander others and

 have no self-control.

They will be cruel and hate what is good.

 They will betray their friends,

be reckless, be puffed up with pride,

and love pleasure rather than God.

They will act religious,

but they will reject the power

 that could make them godly.

Stay away from people like that!

Revelation 3:14-22  New Living Translation (NLT)

The Message to the Church in Laodicea

14 “Write this letter to the angel

of the church in Laodicea.

This is the message from the

one who is the Amen—

the faithful and true witness,

the beginning[a] of God’s new creation:

15 “I know all the things you do,

that you are neither hot nor cold.

I wish that you were one or the other!

16 But since you are like

 lukewarm water,

 neither hot nor cold,

I will spit you out of my mouth!

17 You say, ‘I am rich.

I have everything I want.

I don’t need a thing!’

And you don’t realize that you are

wretched and miserable and

poor and blind and naked.

18 So I advise you to buy gold from me—

gold that has been purified by fire.

Then you will be rich.

Also buy white garments

from me so you will not be shamed

by your nakedness,

and ointment for your eyes

so you will be able to see.

19 I correct and discipline everyone I love.

So be diligent and turn from your indifference.

20 “Look! I stand at the door and knock.

If you hear my voice and open the door,

I will come in,

and we will share a meal together as friends.

 21 Those who are victorious

will sit with me on my throne,

just as I was victorious and

sat with my Father on his throne.

22 “Anyone with ears to hear must listen

to the Spirit and understand what

He is saying to the churches.”

Jesus' Answer To

Controlling the Body

The Cross Was For a Live Body, Not A Dead Body.

The Death On The Cross Was An UltiMate

Act To Cause Death Through Much Agonizing Pain.

God does nothing by accident.  To have this repeated

five time in the scriptures shows the seriousness

of denying the flesh.

Once we reach a state of  self denial

rolling out of bed onto the personal

cross that we must bare daily,

fill our heart and mind with

the Word of God,

then and only then will we be following Jesus,

In the state of it is no longer I that lives

but Christ That lives in me

The forces of the flesh as pointed out in the

following scriptures, is a force to be reckoned with.

As you read this, understand that our control of the

flesh is the saturation of our hearts and minds with the

Word of God,

so that our souls have recourses

to fight the battles brought on by the flesh.

1 John 2:16
For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world.

Romans 6:12
Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts.

Romans 13:14
But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh,
fulfill its lusts.

Making no provision for the flesh, is the secret that

we have some how missed.

In the U.S.A. the church

embraces the life style

that satan has proclaimed as

successful living.

In doing so, a once great Christian

country is close to a state of ruin.

1 John 2:17
And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.

Galatians 5:16
[ Walking in the Spirit ]
I say then:
Walk in the Spirit,
and you shall not fulfill
 the lust of the flesh.

We fight this battle with the flesh

with the weapons provide by God

2 Corinthians 10:3-5

New King James Version (NKJV)

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh.

For the weapons of our warfare

are not carnal but mighty in God

for pulling down strongholds,

casting down arguments and

every high thing that exalts itself

against the knowledge of God,

bringing every thought into captivity

 to the obedience of Christ,

Ephesians 6:10-20

New King James Version (NKJV)

The Whole Armor of God

10 Finally, my brethren,

be strong in the Lord and

in the power of His might.

11 Put on the whole armor of God,

that you may be able to stand

against the wiles of the devil.

12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood,

 but against principalities, against powers,

against the rulers of the darkness of this age,

[a] against spiritual hosts of

wickedness in the heavenly places.

13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God,

that you may be able to withstand

in the evil day,

and having done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore, having girded

 your waist with truth,

having put on the breastplate of righteousness,

15 and having shod your feet with

the preparation of the gospel of peace;

16 above all, taking the shield of faith

with which you will be able to

quench all the fiery darts

of the wicked one.

17 And take the helmet of salvation,

and the sword of the Spirit,

 which is the word of God;

18 praying always with all prayer

 and supplication in the Spirit,

being watchful to this end with

all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—

19 and for me, that utterance may be given to me,

that I may open my mouth boldly

to make known the mystery of the gospel,

20 for which I am an ambassador in chains;

that in it I may speak boldly,

as I ought to speak.

The flesh is the gateway to our minds

and then our hearts.

The flesh is alive and demanding.

It is like a small whole in a dam.

Either plug it up completely

 or it will spew

into a disaster.

That is why God Repeated Five Time

Take Up The Cross

(Luke 11:39 NKJV)

Then the Lord said to him,

"Now you Pharisees make the outside

of the cup and dish clean,

but your inward part is full

of greed and wickedness.

While we are on this earth,

every thought that we have,

 every action that we take,

will either be for the purpose

off walking in the flesh,

or walking in the spirit.

(Mat 6:24 - 25 NKJV)

(24)"No one can serve two masters;

for either he will hate the one

and love the other,

or else he will be loyal to the one

and despise the other.

You cannot serve God and mammon.

(25) "Therefore I say to you,

do not worry about your life,

 what you will eat or what you will drink;

nor about your body, what you will put on.

Is not life more than food and

the body more than clothing?

Seven Different Translations.

You cannot serve both God and money.

New Living Translation

You cannot serve both God and money.

English Standard Version

You cannot serve God and money.

New American Standard Bible

Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

Holman Christian Standard Bible
"No one can be a slave of two masters, since either he will hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other.

You cannot be slaves of God and of money.

International Standard Version
"No one can serve two masters, because either he will hate one and love the other, or be loyal to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and riches!"

If it is no longer I who live

but Christ Jesus who lives in me,

I want us to ask our self a question.

When Christ and I drove off the lot

with our $30,000 dollar plus automobile,

who do you think was sitting

behind the steering wheel?

Do you think it was the Christ

that lives within you,

or do you think maybe

 it could have been

the pride of live that lives within your flesh.

Or maybe it was the lust of the eye

that gleaned at the shining new paint

 and the beautiful leather interior.

I have driven off the lot

in a new $40,000 dollar Lincoln Mark VIII

at one point in my life.

I know who was sitting behind

the steering wheel of that car,

it was the lust of the eyes and

the pride of live.

Was it my flesh or

the Christ that lives in me

that signs the contracts and

credit notes when it comes

 to the homes we buy,

the furnishings for the inside and

the money we spend to care for the yard.

What about the grown up toys,

the trips and vacations we take.

We Are Here To build

The Kingdom Of God.

The Bible says that God is not

willing than any should perish.

I wonder if God looks at the hundreds

of thousands of dollars if not millions

a month that we,

the body of Christ in this U.S.

have spent for the lust of our eyes,

lust of our flesh,

our pride of live and

 the force of greed,

and sees the numbers of souls

 that money could have saved

from the pit of hell,

if that money was spent

monthly for the spread of the gospel.

(Luke 16:14-15 NKJV)

Now the Pharisees,

who were lovers of money,

 also heard all these things,

 and they derided Him.

(15) And He said to them,

"You are those who justify

yourselves before men,

but God knows your hearts.

For what is highly esteemed

among men

is an abomination in the sight of God.

(2 Tim 3:2-5 NKJV)

 (2) For men will be lovers of themselves,

lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers,

disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
(3 ) unloving, unforgiving, slanderers,

without self-control, brutal, despisers of good,
(4) traitors, headstrong, haughty,

lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,
(5) having a form of godliness

but denying its power.

And from such people turn away!

(Ezek 3:16 - 21 NKJV)

16 Now it came to pass at the end of seven days

that the word of the LORD came to me, saying,

17 "Son of man,

I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel;

therefore hear a word from My mouth,

and give them warning from Me:

8 "When I say to the wicked,

'You shall surely die,' and you give him no warning,

nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way,

 to save his life, that same wicked man shall die in his iniquity;

but his blood I will require at your hand.

19 "Yet, if you warn the wicked,

and he does not turn from his wickedness,

nor from his wicked way,

he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered your soul.

20 "Again, when a righteous man turns

from his righteousness and commits iniquity,

and I lay a stumbling block before him,

he shall die;

because you did not give him warning,

he shall die in his sin,

and his righteousness which he has done shall not be remembered;

but his blood I will require at your hand.

21 "Nevertheless if you warn the righteous man

that the righteous should not sin,

and he does not sin,

he shall surely live because he took warning;

also you will have delivered your soul."

Love Your Neighbor As Yourself

Besides spreading the gospel

to save thousands of souls a month,

if we each had chosen a more moderate lifestyle,

I bet that there would also be enough

for us to have raised the lifestyle of every poor

and an suffering Christian

in the U.S and probably most of the world.

(2 Cor 8:13 – 15 NKJV)

"For I do not mean that others

should be eased and you burdened;

(14) but by an equality, that now at this

time your abundance may supply their lack,

that their abundance also may supply your lack;

that there may be equality.

(15) As it is written,

"He who gathered much had nothing left over,

and he who gathered little had no lack."

You take these scriptures and

add them to the ones that follow,

I wonder how important all the Material things

that we strive so hard to obtain

will be to us on the day of judgment.

"For what will it profit a man

if he gains the whole world,

and loses his own soul?"

God has giving us warning after warning

as to as how He feels about our entanglement

with the things of this world.

I believe his final warning

to us is given in revelations

chapter 3 starting with verse 14

(Rev 3:14 –16 NKJV)

(14) "And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write, 'These things says the Amen,

the Faithful and True Witness,

the Beginning of the creation of God:

(15) "I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot.

I could wish you were cold or hot. (16)

"So then, because you are lukewarm,

and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.

How horrible to

give up so much

for so little.

How, forever important,

eternally important,

is it for us to fully understand the depths

 of walking in the spirit.

We can overcome the lust of the flesh,

 lust of the eye

the pride of live and

greed through the power of the Holy Spirit.

1 John 5:18-21

New Living Translation (NLT)

18 We know that God’s children

do not make a practice of sinning,

for God’s Son holds them securely,

and the evil one cannot touch them.

1We know that we are children of God and

that the world around us is

under the control of the evil one.

20 And we know that the Son of God has come,

and he has given us understanding

so that we can know the true God.

[a] And now we live in fellowship with

the true God because

we live in fellowship with his Son,

 Jesus Christ.

He is the only true God,

 and he is eternal life.

21 Dear children, keep away from

anything that might take

God’s place in your hearts.[b]

(Gal 5:14 - 25 NKJV)

14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word,

even in this:

"You shall love your neighbor as yourself."

15 But if you bite and devour one another,

beware lest you be consumed by one another!

16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit,

and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit,

 and the Spirit against the flesh;

and these are contrary to one another,

so that you do not do the things that you wish.

18 But if you are led by the Spirit,

you are not under the law.

19 Now the works of the flesh are evident,

which are:

20 idolatry,

 outbursts of wrath,

selfish ambitions,

21 envy,

 and the like;

of which I tell you beforehand,

just as I also told you in time past,

that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is

 joy, peace,

23 gentleness,

Against such there is no law.

24 And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

In closing it is very important

to point out that God has not

called us to be each others judges.

I have used examples of the cost

of different stuff only for the purpose

of making aware of how we as Christians

get our focus on the wrong things.

It is very important to understand that

New Testament Christianity is not legalism,

but a personal relationship with God.

What you do or do not do

must be based on you relationship with God.

You are responsible to God for you.

We are not each others judges,

your salvation is your responsibility.

If I see you doing what I believe is wrong,

I first have a responsibility to  pray for you.

If I have a relationship with you,

I believe God wants me to share

 with you my concerns.

As I have stated earlier,

I want to help you understand

 the importance of gain

 Heavenly Treasure.

 I know this,

the more you give of your talents,

 your time and your possessions

 while on this earth

To Building The Kingdom Of God

 the more

Heavenly Treasure

you will have waiting

for your arrive in heaven.

2 Corinthians 9

New Living Translation (NLT)

The Collection for Christians in Jerusalem

I really don’t need to write to you about this ministry of giving for the believers in Jerusalem.[a] For I know how eager you are to help, and I have been boasting to the churches in Macedonia that you in Greece[b] were ready to send an offering a year ago. In fact, it was your enthusiasm that stirred up many of the Macedonian believers to begin giving.

But I am sending these brothers to be sure you really are ready, as I have been telling them, and that your money is all collected. I don’t want to be wrong in my boasting about you. We would be embarrassed—not to mention your own embarrassment—if some Macedonian believers came with me and found that you weren’t ready after all I had told them! So I thought I should send these brothers ahead of me to make sure the gift you promised is ready. But I want it to be a willing gift, not one given grudgingly.

Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.”[c] And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others. As the Scriptures say,

“They share freely and give generously to the poor.
Their good deeds will be remembered forever.”[d]

10 For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity[e] in you.

11 Yes, you will be enriched in every way so that you can always be generous. And when we take your gifts to those who need them, they will thank God. 12 So two good things will result from this ministry of giving—the needs of the believers in Jerusalem[f] will be met, and they will joyfully express their thanks to God.

13 As a result of your ministry, they will give glory to God. For your generosity to them and to all believers will prove that you are obedient to the Good News of Christ. 14 And they will pray for you with deep affection because of the overflowing grace God has given to you. 15 Thank God for this gift[g] too wonderful for words!
