Know Your Strength

Ephesians 6

New Living Translation (NLT)

Children and Parents

Children, obey your parents because you belong to the Lord,[a] for this is the right thing to do. “Honor your father and mother.” This is the first commandment with a promise: If you honor your father and mother, “things will go well for you, and you will have a long life on the earth.”[b]

Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord.

Slaves and Masters

Slaves, obey your earthly masters with deep respect and fear. Serve them sincerely as you would serve Christ. Try to please them all the time, not just when they are watching you. As slaves of Christ, do the will of God with all your heart. Work with enthusiasm, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will reward each one of us for the good we do, whether we are slaves or free.

Masters, treat your slaves in the same way. Don’t threaten them; remember, you both have the same Master in heaven, and he has no favorites.

The Whole Armor of God

10 A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. 12 For we[c] are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.

13 Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. 14 Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. 15 For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared.[d] 16 In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil.[e] 17 Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18 Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.[f]

19 And pray for me, too. Ask God to give me the right words so I can boldly explain God’s mysterious plan that the Good News is for Jews and Gentiles alike.[g] 20 I am in chains now, still preaching this message as God’s ambassador. So pray that I will keep on speaking boldly for him, as I should.

Final Greetings

21 To bring you up to date, Tychicus will give you a full report about what I am doing and how I am getting along. He is a beloved brother and faithful helper in the Lord’s work. 22 I have sent him to you for this very purpose—to let you know how we are doing and to encourage you.

23 Peace be with you, dear brothers and sisters,[h] and may God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you love with faithfulness. 24 May God’s grace be eternally upon all who love our Lord Jesus Christ.

Chapter 20

The study of strength

I have found evidence in the

Word Of Three Types Of Strength,

they are all given from the Spirit of God.

1) The first type of strength is that of the body,

physical strength and super natural strength.

2) There is also reference made to

the spiritual strength gained through the Word.

3) Last but definitely not lest is the reference made to

the spiritual strength given to us by God

as a gift to us for a certain moment in time.

Let's First Look At The Command To

Love The Lord Our God With All Our strength.

·  Luke 10:27

So he answered and said,

“ ‘You shall love the Lord your God

with all your heart,

with all your soul,

with all your strength,

with all your mind,’ and ‘

your neighbor as yourself.’”

·  Mark 12:30

And you shall love the Lord your God

with all your heart,

with all your soul,

with all your mind, and

with all your strength.’

This is the first commandment.

Before we start the study

of the three types of strength,

 let us reestablish our position

in the army of God.

2 Corinthians 5:14-15 New Living Translation (NLT)

14 Either way,

Christ’s love controls us.

[a] Since we believe that

Christ died for all,

we also believe that

we have all died to our old life.

[b] 15 He died for everyone

 so that those who receive

his new life will

no longer live for themselves.    (All)

Instead, they will live for Christ,

who died and was raised for them.

16 So we have stopped evaluating

others from a human point of view.

At one time we thought of Christ

merely from a human point of view.

How differently we know him now!

17 This means that anyone who belongs

to Christ has become a new person.

The old life is gone; a new life has begun!

God's Focus Is Not On This World

But On Building His Kingdom.

From the above scriptures

we can understand where our

focus should be.

(1)

The first strength that we will look at is

the physical strength produced through the physical body.

2 Corinthians 12:9

And He said to me,

“My grace is sufficient for you,

for My strength

is made perfect in weakness.”

Therefore most gladly

I will rather boast in my infirmities,

that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

This scripture is referring to actual physical ability.

The first is the actual

physical strength of the body.

If you have ever been sick or injured

in any way

you know now it limits your ability

to function at you best physically.

God is saying that He will give

 His strength to

accomplish your physical duties

that  have been given you.

Two examples of this in the Word are;

The story of Samson.

God gave Samson enormous physical strength

 to accomplish many physical feats

for the purpose of showing God to be God.

The stories of David,

God gave David both enormous

physical strength,

he told Saul that he had killed

a lion and a bear with his bear hands,

and when he killed Goliath,

it was a super natural ability

to accomplish a natural task.

 David slung the small stone

with great power and,

also great accuracy.

This is a super natural strength

and ability given to David from God.

When I was young

Somewhere between 5 and 6 years old

I was given a BB rifle.

While at my grandparents house

I place a target on her concrete stairs.

First Shot Three Bulls Eyes,

When through the target,

hit the concrete,

came back through the target

and hit me right between the eyes.

Also some where between 10 and 12 years old,

me and a friend where shouting

at each other this real rocks using

fairly powerful sling shot

because when I was hit it was from

at least a distance of 70 to 100 Ft.

The rock actually hit me in the identical place

that David struck Goliath,

directly in the middle of the forehead.

Instantly I had a large knot on my forehead that was probably

twice the size of the rock or bigger.

When it hit me I heard a loud knocking sound

and there was instant pain.

I remember this very well, it was quite an experience.

Being the tough dud that I thought I was,

I just keep on playing.

I said that to say that it did not knock

 me unconscious or even

stop me from playing.

It hurt and it looked ugly, But that was it.

I am not saying that David's sling shot

was not very powerful and

that he was not a great aim.

I am saying that there was more

going on there than

what a man was physically

capable of doing

with a rock and a sling.

This rock flew in the direction

and at a strength give by God

and not that of David alone.

When we love God with all,

 we are more that enough

to deal with what ever

He allows to come into our life.

When we finally learn that

He wants total control and

total recognition for all that we do,

we are going see some amazing

things that God wants to do

through us.

Jesus was trying to teach

the disciples this when He let Peter

walk on the water.

When He crawled their case

for not having faith when they were

in the storm,  He Spoke to it

and the winds stopped and the sea became calm.

Also when the disciples were not able

to cast the spirit out of the

child that the father brought to be healed,

Jesus said my goodness, (my interpretation)

how long am I going to have to he with you guy

before you will learn,

I am with you and all things are possible

to you when, when it is no longer you that live

but it is I who lives in you.

Do you not remember that when

 I cursed the fig tree

and you where amazed

when it died instantly.

What did I tell you,

If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed,

you can say to a mountain

get up and jump in the see

and it will do what you say.

 (again my interpretation)

God want to be a supernatural God through us,

He want us to believe that He is there in

a supernatural way for us.

To be that through us

He simply ask for our all.

The biggest problem is that no one

is teach what it means to give all.

(2)

The Second Type of Strength

The next strength

that we will look at is

the spiritual strength

produced through the growth

of the spirit

through allowing the Word

to enter our mind and spirit

on an ongoing bases.

I am giving you the warning

that God told me to give.

A 5 or 10 minute Bible study a day

with a little prayer time is not going to

get you into the Kingdom Of God.

Romans 10:5-17

New Living Translation (NLT)

Salvation Is for Everyone

For Moses writes that the law’s way

 of making a person right

with God requires obedience

 to all of its commands.

[a] But faith’s way of getting

 right with God says,

 “Don’t say in your heart,

‘Who will go up to heaven?’

(to bring Christ down to earth).

And don’t say,

‘Who will go down to the place of the dead?’

(to bring Christ back to life again).”

In fact, it says,

“The message is very close at hand;
it is on your lips and in your heart.”[b]

And that message is the very message

about faith that we preach:

If you confess with your mouth

that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart

that God raised him from the dead,

you will be saved.

10 For it is by believing in your heart

that you are made right with God,

and it is by confessing with your mouth

 that you are saved.

11 As the Scriptures tell us,

“Anyone who trusts in him

will never be disgraced.”[c]

12 Jew and Gentile[d]

are the same in this respect.

They have the same Lord,

who gives generously

to all who call on him.

13 For “Everyone who calls on

the name of the Lord will be saved.”[e]

14 But how can they call on him to save them

 unless they believe in him?

And how can they believe in him

if they have never heard about him?

And how can they hear about him

 unless someone tells them?

15 And how will anyone go and

 tell them without being sent?

That is why the Scriptures say,

“How beautiful are the feet of

messengers who bring good news!”[f]

16 But not everyone welcomes the Good News,

 for Isaiah the prophet said,

“Lord, who has believed our message?”[g]

17 So faith comes from hearing,

that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.

Hebrews 11 New Living Translation (NLT)

Great Examples of Faith

11 Faith is the confidence that

what we hope for will actually happen;

it gives us assurance about

things we cannot see

And it is impossible to please God without faith.

Anyone who wants to come to him

must believe that God exists and

that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.

These first scriptures I place in
 this category because
Jesus is the Word of God
and by studying the Word
we will gain spiritual strength of the Word.

As far as God is Concerned,
there is nothing else on this earth or in heaven
that is more important than the Word

To better state that
The only thing that God thanks
is important is The Word

God makes it very clear He Wants us to
separate our self from this world.
The way I found to do this was
by buying the Word of God
on DVD and CD, then have it
playing in my presents 24 hours a day.

Replace all other doctrines,
all other activities that are
put in place of the Word.
If you will do this,
when you and your family are together,
it should be and will be in the presents of the Word.
 Went you are out together
it should be and will be in the presents of the Word.

You may say that is an extreme.

Tell that to anyone that has been
in the pit of hell for
one hundred thousands of a second or
that has been there one hundred thousand days.

I guarantee you they would give anything that
they had or did for another chance
to saturated theirself with the Word of God
Each and Every Day Of Their Life.

Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

The main teacher and preacher is the Holy Spirit of God,

His text that He uses to teach us is

Jesus, the Word of God.

You get the Word of God Jesus

filling your mind and heart each day.

I can promise you from the Word of God,

the teacher, the Holy Spirit of

God will make Him Self known to you.

John 14:15-18

New King James Version (NKJV)

Jesus Promises Another Helper

15 “If you love Me,

 keep[a] My commandments.

16 And I will pray the Father,

and He will give you another Helper,

that He may abide with you forever—

17 the Spirit of truth,

 whom the world cannot receive,

because it neither sees Him

 nor knows Him;

but you know Him,

for He dwells with you and

will be in you. 18

I will not leave you orphans;

 I will come to you.

Replace the word Israel from the heading below

and read very carefully with your name in it place.

Romans 10:14-21

New King James Version (NKJV)

Israel Rejects the Gospel

14 How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed?

And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard?

And how shall they hear without a preacher?

15 And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written:

“How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace,[a]
Who bring glad tidings of good things!”[b]

16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says,

“Lord, who has believed our report?”[c]

17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

18 But I say, have they not heard? Yes indeed:

“Their sound has gone out to all the earth,
And their words to the ends of the world.”[d]

19 But I say, did Israel not know? First Moses says:

“I will provoke you to jealousy by those who are not a nation,
I will move you to anger by a foolish nation.”[e]

20 But Isaiah is very bold and says:

“I was found by those who did not seek Me;
I was made manifest to those who did not ask for Me.”[f]

21 But to Israel he says:

“All day long I have stretched out My hands
To a disobedient and contrary people.”[g]

(3)

The third type of spiritual strength

is received as a gift of God.

This spiritual strength is given to us by God

as a gift to us for a certain moment in time.

Daniel and the lions den

The three Hebrew young men and the fiery  furnace

Moses stand at the red sea.

Noah and the ark

Jonah and the whale

This list is added to through out the whole Bible.

Any one that is truly walking with the Lord

can probably share  at least one experience

that they came through that they

knew that there was a supernatural intervention

of trust in the Holy Spirit of God

that brought them through that moment in time.

There is a fine line here between God

Just doing a miracle and God

giving us a supernatural spiritual strength

to make it through a given moment in time.

So the churches were strengthened in the faith,
and increased in number daily.

Revelation 3:8

“I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door,

and no one can shut it;

for you have a little strength,

have kept My word,

and have not denied My name.

Luke 22:39-46

New King James Version (NKJV)

The Prayer in the Garden

39 Coming out, He went to the Mount of Olives,

as He was accustomed,

and His disciples also followed Him.

40 When He came to the place, He said to them,

“Pray that you may not enter into temptation.”

41 And He was withdrawn from them

about a stone’s throw,

and He knelt down and prayed, 42 saying, “Father,

 if it is Your will,

take this cup away from Me;

nevertheless not My will,

but Yours, be done.”

43 Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven,

strengthening Him.

44 And being in agony,

He prayed more earnestly.

Then His sweat became like great drops of blood

 falling down to the ground.[a]

45 When He rose up from prayer,

and had come to His disciples,

He found them sleeping from sorrow.

46 Then He said to them,

 “Why do you sleep?

Rise and pray,

lest you enter into temptation.”

·  2 Timothy 4:17

[ The Lord Is Faithful ]

But the Lord stood

with me and strengthened me,

so that the message might be preached fully through me,

and that all the Gentiles might hear.

Also I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.

2 Timothy 4:16-18 (in Context) 2 Timothy 4 (Whole Chapter) Other Translations

Revelation 5:12

saying with a loud voice:

“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain

To receive power and riches and wisdom,

And strength and honor and glory and blessing!”

Revelation 12:10

Then I heard a loud voice

 saying in heaven,

“Now salvation, and strength,

and the kingdom of our God,

 and the power of

His Christ have come,

for the accuser of our brethren,

who accused them before

our God day and night,

has been cast down.

Evidence Of The Correct Uses Of Strength

Hebrews 13 (New Living Translation)

Hebrews 13

New Living Translation (NLT)

Concluding Words

13 Keep on loving each other

as brothers and sisters.[a]

 Don’t forget to show

hospitality to strangers,

for some who have done this

 have entertained

 angels without realizing it!

Remember those in prison,

as if you were there yourself.

Remember also those

being mistreated,

as if you felt their pain

 in your own bodies.

Give honor to marriage,

and remain faithful to one another in marriage.

God will surely judge people who are immoral

and those who commit adultery.

Don’t love money;

be satisfied with what you have.

For God has said,

“I will never fail you.
    I will never abandon you.”[b]

So we can say with confidence,

“The Lord is my helper,
so I will have no fear.
What can mere people do to me?”[c]

Remember your leaders

who taught you the word of God.

 Think of all the good

that has come from their lives,

and follow the example of their faith.

Jesus Christ is the same

yesterday, today, and forever.

So do not be attracted

by strange, new ideas.

Your strength comes from God’s grace,

not from rules about food,

which don’t help those who follow them.

10 We have an altar from which the priests

in the Tabernacle[d] have no right to eat.

 11 Under the old system,

the high priest brought the

blood of animals into the

Holy Place as a sacrifice for sin,

and the bodies of the animals

 were burned outside the camp.

12 So also Jesus suffered and died

outside the city gates

to make his people holy

by means of his own blood.

13 So let us go out to him,

 outside the camp,

and bear the disgrace he bore.

14 For this world is not our permanent home;

we are looking forward to a home yet to come.

15 Therefore, let us offer through Jesus

a continual sacrifice of praise to God,

proclaiming our allegiance to his name.

16 And don’t forget to do good and

to share with those in need.

These are the sacrifices that please God.

17 Obey your spiritual leaders,

and do what they say.

Their work is to watch over your souls,

and they are accountable to God.

Give them reason to do this

with joy and not with sorrow.

That would certainly not be for your benefit.

18 Pray for us, for our conscience is clear and

we want to live honorably

in everything we do.

 19 And especially pray that

I will be able to come back to you soon.

20 Now may the God of peace—
who brought up from the dead

our Lord Jesus,
the great Shepherd of the sheep,
    and ratified an eternal covenant

 with his blood—
21 may he equip you with all you need
    for doing his will.
May he produce in you,[e]
through the power of Jesus Christ,
every good thing that is pleasing to him.
All glory to him forever and ever! Amen.

22 I urge you, dear brothers and sisters,[f]

to pay attention to what I have

 written in this brief exhortation.

23 I want you to know that our brother

Timothy has been released from jail.

If he comes here soon,

I will bring him with me to see you.

24 Greet all your leaders and

all the believers there.

[g] The believers from Italy

send you their greetings.

25 May God’s grace be with you all.

Galatians 5

New Living Translation (NLT)

Freedom in Christ

So Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don’t get tied up again in slavery to the law.

Listen! I, Paul, tell you this: If you are counting on circumcision to make you right with God, then Christ will be of no benefit to you. I’ll say it again. If you are trying to find favor with God by being circumcised, you must obey every regulation in the whole law of Moses. For if you are trying to make yourselves right with God by keeping the law, you have been cut off from Christ! You have fallen away from God’s grace.

But we who live by the Spirit eagerly wait to receive by faith the righteousness God has promised to us. For when we place our faith in Christ Jesus, there is no benefit in being circumcised or being uncircumcised. What is important is faith expressing itself in love.

You were running the race so well. Who has held you back from following the truth? It certainly isn’t God, for he is the one who called you to freedom. This false teaching is like a little yeast that spreads through the whole batch of dough! 10 I am trusting the Lord to keep you from believing false teachings. God will judge that person, whoever he is, who has been confusing you.

11 Dear brothers and sisters,[a] if I were still preaching that you must be circumcised—as some say I do—why am I still being persecuted? If I were no longer preaching salvation through the cross of Christ, no one would be offended. 12 I just wish that those troublemakers who want to mutilate you by circumcision would mutilate themselves.[b]

13 For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love. 14 For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”[c] 15 But if you are always biting and devouring one another, watch out! Beware of destroying one another.

Living by the Spirit’s Power

16 So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. 17 The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions. 18 But when you are directed by the Spirit, you are not under obligation to the law of Moses.

19 When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, 21 envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

22 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!

24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. 25 Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives. 26 Let us not become conceited, or provoke one another, or be jealous of one another.
