Building a Heavenly Bank Account
Let us start by asking ourselves three very important questions.
(1) How important is heavenly treasure?
(2) Am I personally willing to do what it takes to make deposits into a heavenly bank account?
(3) If so, how do I make deposits into my heavenly account so that I may possess as much heavenly treasure as I personally desire, or maybe as God desires for me to have?
For the answers to the first questions, lets read the following scripture in Godís Word.
(Mat 6:19 & 20 NKJV)
(19) Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; (20) "but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal."
How many times have you heard that scripture preached? Most sermons I have heard preached on prosperity tells me of all the blessings that God wants me to have on earth. Does this scripture contradict the teaching that God wants me to have much earthly prosperity? Could it be possible that In Godís opinion, we should be mainly, if not solely interested in heavenly treasure, not earthly treasure. Is it possible that God puts very little interest in the accumulation of earthly things, the uses of earthly prosperity of His children for their own personal wealth? As you read the scriptures through out this study, these questions will be addressed.
If you think that the pervious scripture has any validity to it at all and you desire to really know the total truth about what it takes to have heavenly treasure, the scriptures we study will show you Godís will concerning heavenly treasure.
Based on the pervious scripture and the following scripture, Ask yourself this question, Do these scriptures really mean what they say or is there some hidden meaning that I am missing. Surely Jesus does not literally mean what He says in both of these scripture. Why have I not heard dozens if sermons on these two scripture so that I already have a clear understanding as to exactly what Jesus really means in these two scriptures in today's terms. If Jesus really means exactly what he says, am I willing to do what it takes to get heavenly treasure?
(Mark 10:21-27 NKJV)
(21) Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, "One thing you lack: Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross, and follow Me."
Now we have two scriptures that make a very strong case for the statement that God puts very little interest in the individual uses of earthly prosperity He gives to His children. The first scripture says not to lay up treasure on earth, but lay up treasure in heaven. Then the second scripture say if you have earthly treasure, sell it, and give to the poor so you can have heavenly treasure. Yet many of Gods children spend much time working to poses the best of what the world has to offer. It seems that we are always driven to have more, get the better when it comes, to have more of the things of this world. Where does it end and what is really God's will concerning the things this world works so hard to create and sell me.
I think now would be a very good time to pray the following prayer.
"Please God, help me understand the true meaning of these two scriptures. What must I do to receive heavenly treasure? How important is it to you that I have earthly treasures stored up and great earthly treasures that I buy and use for the personal uses of my family and myself. Help me dear God, so that I may make a wise decision in deciding to do what ever is necessary, to gain Heavenly Treasure." Also dear God, please help me understand from the Word, your Word the Bible, the importance of my personal uses of earthly treasure and what is the proper uses of the earthly treasures that you give to me.
This simple example might encourage you to search the scriptures to find Godís will so you can make a wise decision in deciding the importance of making deposits into your heavenly bank account.
Get the largest sheet of paper that you can find and draw the largest possible circle that will fit on that sheet of paper. Label that circle Eternity.
Now, To Scale, draw a circle within the eternity circle that represents the seventy or so years that you may be on earth. To really understand the true meaning of this example the two circles must be to scale.
This Circle represents Eternity.
Now look inside eternityís circle and find a circle to scale that represents your seventy or so years on this earth.
Can you find your yearís circle???????
Where do you want your treasure? Do you want it in the circle that you can see, or the circle that you cannot find?
While we are on this earth it is so easy to get caught up in everyday life of our culture and society we live in. How easy it is to lose prospective as to what life is really all about for Christians.
What we should be asking ourselves is, what is life really all about in
If in Godís opinion, life on this earth is about making deposits into our heavenly bank account, then we should get very serious about the answer to the third question.
How do you get Heavenly Treasure?
The objective of this teaching is to explain from Gods Word How to Build a Heavenly bank Account.
