The Gethsemane Experience

To understand the depth of this experience is to understand what Jesus really means in  (Luke 9:23 NKJV)

Then He said to them all,

"If anyone desires to come after Me,

let him deny himself,

and take up his cross daily,

and follow Me.

The Gethsemane Experience will deliver you from this (1 John 2:16 - 17NKJV) For all that is in the world; the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life; is not of the Father but is of the world.  (17 ) And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever. (Luke 11:39 NKJV) Then the Lord said to him, "Now you Pharisees make the outside of the cup and dish clean, but your inward part is full of greed and wickedness.

If you are ready to face life with the total determination of  perfecting holiness in the fear of God, God is ready to take you by the hand, help and teach you how to Walk in the Spirit, serving Him and others. At the same time He will teach you and help you  over come the lust of the flesh, he lust of the eyes, the pride of life and the force of greed..

What is the Gethsemane Experience ( Taken form the scriptures below)

I have created a complete picture of the night in the Garden Of Gethsemane by taking inserts from the three different passages of scripture that tell us about this astonishing experience that Jesus had. Here we have all God and all man at the cross roads of the future of  you and me, and all man kind.  To understand this totally is a book the size of all that has every been and all that will ever be.  I have tried to touch who Jesus is on this web and the teaching can be found here. ( )

What I want us to understand here is what Jesus had to do in the garden. He had to die to all that He was as a man and all that HE WAS AS GOD.  This is something that must be understood,  by accepting the future events of the crucifixion, which would be taking into Himself the sin of all mankind, He had to Die To All That He Was As God.

In our walk of "If anyone desires to come after Me"let him deny himself,  is to look past who we are as a spirit man in this world for the purpose of allowing Jesus to express,  Who He became when God raised Him from the dead, through us as He wills.

To do this we have to " take up our own personal cross daily" which means nailing our live flesh to a spiritual cross daily, which is walking in the spirit and not in the flesh with it's lust and desires.

When we do this we will be true followers of Jesus.

It is so necessary for us to understand the sacrifice of God  here in the garden,  so we can humble our self to the necessary state of self sacrifice that we must make while we are still on this earth. We must always be able to look past this world to eternity, and do what we must do here so we can have what He has for us there.  Please read the two following scripture before you look at Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane.

(2 Tim 2:4 NKJV) No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier.

(1 Cor 2:9 NKJV) But as it is written: "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him."

In the Garden Jesus did this to give us the right to do the same so that we too could have what God has pepared for us.

(1) When He came to the place, He said to them, Pray that you may not enter into temptation

(2) And He took with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and He began to be sorrowful and deeply distressed.

(3)  Then He said to them, "My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me."

(4)  And He said, "Abba, Father, all things are possible for You. Take this cup away from Me; nevertheless, not what I will, but what You will."

(5)  Then He came to the disciples and found them asleep, and said to Peter, "What? Could you not watch with Me one hour?   "Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."

(6) ) Again, a second time, He went away and prayed, saying, "O My Father, if this cup cannot pass away from Me unless I drink it, Your will be done.
(7)
Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him.

(8)  And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

(9) And He came and found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy.
(10)
So He left them, went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.

(11)  Then He came to His disciples and said to them, "Are you still sleeping and resting? Behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners.

(Luke 22:39 NKJV) Coming out, He went to the Mount of Olives, as He was accustomed, and His disciples also followed Him.

(1) (Luke 22:40 NKJV) When He came to the place, He said to them, "Pray that you may not enter into temptation."

(Luke 22:41 NKJV) And He was withdrawn from them about a stone's throw, and He knelt down and prayed,

(Luke 22:42 NKJV) saying, "Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done."

(7) (Luke 22:43 NKJV) Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him.

(Luke 22:45 NKJV) When He rose up from prayer, and had come to His disciples, He found them sleeping from sorrow.

(Luke 22:46 NKJV) Then He said to them, "Why do you sleep? Rise and pray, lest you enter into temptation."

(Mat 26:36 NKJV) Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to the disciples, "Sit here while I go and pray over there."

(2) (Mat 26:37 NKJV) And He took with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and He began to be sorrowful and deeply distressed.

(3) (Mat 26:38 NKJV) Then He said to them, "My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me."

(Mat 26:39 NKJV) He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, "O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will."

(5) (Mat 26:40 NKJV) Then He came to the disciples and found them asleep, and said to Peter, "What? Could you not watch with Me one hour?

(5) (Mat 26:41 NKJV) "Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."

(6) (Mat 26:42 NKJV) Again, a second time, He went away and prayed, saying, "O My Father, if this cup cannot pass away from Me unless I drink it, Your will be done."

(9)  (Mat 26:43 NKJV)And He came and found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy.

(10)(Mat 26:44 NKJV) So He left them, went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.

(11)  (Mat 26:45 NKJV)Then He came to His disciples and said to them, "Are you still sleeping and resting? Behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners.

(Mark 14:33 NKJV) And He took Peter, James, and John with Him, and He began to be troubled and deeply distressed.

(Mark 14:34 NKJV) Then He said to them, "My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch."

(Mark 14:35 NKJV) He went a little farther, and fell on the ground, and prayed that if it were possible, the hour might pass from Him.

(Mark 14:37 NKJV) Then He came and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, "Simon, are you sleeping? Could you not watch one hour?

(Mark 14:38 NKJV) "Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."

(Mark 14:39 NKJV) Again He went away and prayed, and spoke the same words.

(Mark 14:40 NKJV) And when He returned, He found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy; and they did not know what to answer Him.

(Mark 14:41 NKJV) Then He came the third time and said to them, "Are you still sleeping and resting? It is enough! The hour has come; behold, the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners.

God has brought me to a place in my life where He has asked me to enter Garden of Gethsemane.  I wrote this intro to the

The Gethsemane Experience

Months ago or maybe even years ago. I do not remember how far back it has been.

I kind of got an idea about what the Gethsemane Experience is from reading the above scriptures as I meditated on thses scriptures.  If Jesus' sweat became as great drops of blood and God sent an angel to strengthen,  this was quit an experience for Him.

I am in no way trying to compare my  Gethsemane Experience with that of Jesus.  What I am learning as I enter this time in my life,  these scriptures are given to me as a warning to prepare me for what it is going to be like to experience the total death of self will.   My death and your death to self will and Jesus' death to self will can  in no way have even the slightest comparison except for the part that the flesh plays in the process.

Read Proverbs chapter eight and John chapter one and you can start to see where Jesus came from and the sacrifice that He make to bring us into the Kingdom of God.

Again I now believe that this scriptures are given to help us understand that a total self sacrifice is required and that this sacrifice is no walk in the park. I have personally felt like I might really blow-up, inside out. Not just once but over and over again with no end in sight.

At the moment that is where I am at.  The understanding of this is far from complete, although I am releasing in areas that are extremely difficult for me at the moment.  I am not sure if some or all of these struggles are a one time thing or will become multiple experiences or an ongoing experience. At the moment I am not sure whether  I can deal with this if it turned into an ongoing experience.

It feels like that I am going to need an angel real soon if some of this pressure does not let up soon.  One thing I do know is that God thinks that this is necessary for me and that He is walking me through this even though I feel very alone.

I as I understand the process better I will continue to update this page.
